NAFTA was passed in 1993 and within a few years had shuttered countless small businesses, sent millions of American jobs to Mexico, and driven millions of Mexican people off of their ancestral lands and away from their peaceful, sustainable agrarian heritage. Why did NAFTA force millions of Mexicans off of their lands? So the corporations could take the local resources while enjoying a disenfranchised and impoverished workforce.
NAFTA's demands had destabilized southern Mexico to the point of civil war. NAFTA is why Rage Against the Machine's Zack de la Rocha was supporting Campesinos in Chiapas, Mexico in the late 90s' in resisting NAFTA policies as they were be slaughtered by US supported terrorists.
How can America compete with slave labor overseas? Only by creating slave labor conditions over here.
The craziest thing about the TPP is that is being discussed largely behind closed doors and with very little meaningful coverage in the media. Most people don't even know what the TPP is.
